STARKVILLE — Starkville Police are looking for two men involved in an attempted home burglary and high-speed vehicle chase Thursday night.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. two officers patrolling the Cotton District on foot near the Planter Grove apartment complex approached two black males leaving an apartment where laptop computers and a TV were laying on the ground.
Both suspects took off on foot through the Cotton District before splitting up. One man got in a blue Ford Crown Victoria and nearby officers in a cruiser picked up the chase of the vehicle.
SPD Lt. Troy Outlaw said the suspect reached speeds of 120 miles per hour, leading officers down Fellowship Drive, University Drive, Old West Point Road and Highway 182. The suspect eventually turned around on Highway 182 near the Mississippi Highway Patrol station and headed west. He lost control of his vehicle and eventually stopped at the Truth and Tabernacle Church parking lot on Highway 182. From there, the suspect fled on foot.
No one was injured in the chase and the church didn”t sustain damage. The SPD didn”t have a detailed description of either suspect.
“With it being game time, that”s usually when we have burglaries,” Outlaw said. “So we had a couple of officers walking the Cotton District that night.”
Outlaw said they”ve run tag information from the vehicle but will not release the information.
