Days after their arrests for a gang-style execution of a 19-year-old man, three Columbus men are still waiting for their bonds to be set, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff”s Office.
Investigators have charged Quinton Deangelo Harris, 19, of 1008 22nd St. S.; Alexander Demonta Brown, 18, of 225 Taylor St.; and Kahlid Rashawn Roby, 18, of 109 Poplar St.; with capital murder Monday for the May 20 shooting death of William Deshun Stallings.
Three to five men, who had affiliations to the Gangster Disciples and Vice Lords gangs, broke into 850 Harrison Road at about 3:15 a.m. Friday and shot Stallings once in the back of the head before robbing a friend in a neighboring room. Stallings, a former New Hope student who was also once affiliated with a gang, was airlifted to the North Mississippi Medical Center at Tupelo, where he was pronounced dead. His mother, Josie Porter, declined to comment on her son”s death.
Investigators said all three defendants are thought to be Gangster Disciples who killed Stallings because of an argument over a woman.
In their execution of five search warrants, deputies found a handgun, which is possibly the weapon used to kill Stallings, and two long-barreled weapons.
According to Chief Deputy Greg Wright, the investigation could result in more arrests or additional charges.
