A 20-year-old woman suffered facial cuts and possibly a fracture today when her white sedan careened into a drainage ditch.
Mary Pruitt, of Lowndes County, was southbound on Ridge Road at Crestwood Drive near the Columbus Country Club when she apparently lost control of her older-model Geo Prism at about 7:15 a.m.
Her car went off the right-hand shoulder of the road and plowed into the ditch embankment, where she was assisted by paramedics, Columbus firefighters and police officers.
She was taken in stable condition to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Information about whether she was wearing her seat belt or whether she had insurance was not immediately available.
