Two men have been charged with a string of Lowndes County burglaries that targeted guns, which they allegedly traded for marijuana.
Michael Maddox Sr., 42, and Michael Maddox Jr., 19, both of 78 Old New Hope Road, stole eight rifles, three shotguns and four handguns in three recent robberies, said Lowndes County Sheriff”s Investigator Tony Perkins.
About half of the weapons had been sold or traded by the time investigators arrested the Maddoxes, who have both been charged with three counts of burglary. The younger Maddox was also charged with possession of cocaine.
Through the Maddoxes, investigators also arrested the alleged dope-for-guns dealer, Frederick Brownlee, 36, of 866 Hairston Bend Road. Drug-related charges are pending today against him, Perkins said.
