The Columbus City Council unanimously agreed Tuesday to allow a May 15 concert at the Riverwalk to benefit Smithville tornado victims.
Station Seven Bar and Grill, along with the city police and fire departments, have already lined up 10 local bands and are recruiting food vendors for the event, which will begin at 1 p.m. May 15.
Coolers will not be allowed at the gated event, which will also feature a silent auction by local businesses and an 18-wheeler where people can donate non-perishable food items.
Ticket prices have not been set, but all proceeds will go to the victims, many of whom lost everything in the devastating storm in late April.
For more information about the event, contact Police Community Relations Officer Rhonda Sanders at 662-244-3544 or at 662-251-7355.
