The Civil Service Commission decided Thursday evening to hear the appeals of three suspended Columbus police officers April 27.
Lt. John Pevey and officers Rick Higgins and Heath Beard will present their cases at 2 p.m. then in the old city hall courtroom.
Pevey, who has qualified to run for Lowndes County sheriff, and Higgins were suspended 20 days Feb. 22 for allegedly failing to follow proper procedures after Higgins wrecked a squad car on New Year”s Eve.
In a separate incident, Beard was suspended five days for allegedly wrecking a squad car and 10 days for insubordination.
If the suspensions are overruled, the officers may be entitled to back pay.
