A 23-year-old man who allegedly resisted arrest was Tased by a Columbus police officer early today at the Military Road Huddle House.
Officers were called to the diner at about 2:30 a.m. today because a group of men were causing a disturbance, said police Spokesman Terrie Songer.
Among the group at the scene was Jamarquis Summerville, of Columbus, who was asked to step outside.
Summerville allegedly began struggling with police and was Tased after he was told multiple times to calm down. He was charged with resisting arrest, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
In a separate incident, police were called to the 600 block of 22nd Street North at about 7:45 a.m. today for an attempted burglary.
The female resident was lying on the living room floor when the man threw a medium-sized rock through the kitchen door window, Songer said.
The suspect, described as a short, black man dressed all in black, fled when the woman”s husband approached.
No suspect was in custody for the attempted break-in at 10 a.m., Songer said.
Anyone with information about the case should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151. Information leading to an arrest could be worth up to $1,000.
