The 21-year-old Columbus woman who was severely injured in a wreck early Tuesday remained in critical condition today in Memphis.
Brook Loredo, along with her 23-year-old friend, passenger Jose Aguilar, suffered multiple fractures at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, when her 2002 Chevrolet Malibu collided head-on with a 2001 Ford Ranger driven by 25-year-old Jordy Jaynes on Highway 12 south of Military Road.
Loredo, whose pelvis was also crushed in the accident, was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo in critical condition. From there, she was taken to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis for further treatment.
Aguilar and Jaynes, both of Columbus, were taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Aguilar was discharged Tuesday, while Jaynes was transferred to a different hospital.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Brian Mobley said all three people were wearing seat belts.
The cause of the wreck was still under investigation today, Mobley said.
