A woman was airlifted to Tupelo and two others were hospitalized after a two-vehicle head-on collision early Tuesday in Lowndes County.
At 10 a.m., officers were still sorting out the details of the wreck, which happened at about 6:30 a.m. today on a Highway 12 bridge just south of Military Road, said Mississippi Highway Patrol Spokesman Brian Mobley.
The woman and a man were in a maroon Chevrolet Malibu that collided with a man in a maroon Ford pickup truck, according to sources at the scene.
The woman, who had multiple injuries, including a severe injury to her leg, was taken to a nearby field where a North Mississippi Medical Center helicopter was waiting.
The other men, whose injuries were not disclosed, were taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
