ALABAMA's LAST 5: W 68-62 vs. Mississippi State, L 78-66 at Ole Miss, W 80-73 vs. Oklahoma, L 69-60 vs. Missouri, W 68-50 at Florida.

MSU's LAST 5: L 68-62 at Alabama, L 78-65 at Kentucky, W 74-62 vs. Missouri, W 81-76 at South Carolina, W 72-57 vs. Georgia.

ALABAMA SINCE THE LAST MEETING: It's been a strange ride for the Tide. Alabama has had moments where it looks like a team that can get to the Sweet 16, such as beating Oklahoma despite a pretty good road performance from Trae Young and beating Florida half to death on the road. I'm not going to fault them for losing at Ole Miss, since almost everyone does that this year, but losing at home to Missouri and looking as bad as it did in the process (35 percent from the field, outrebounded by 11) made it look like a team that has no business being in the Tournament. Still, Damon Ingram is nice supporting piece for Collin Sexton and this team has the pieces to win on the road.

ALABAMA PROJECTED STARTERS

G 2 Collin Sexton, Fr., 6'3", 190 -- 18.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.2 spg, set season's highs with 8 rebounds and 6 assists in last game.

G 23 John Petty, Fr., 6'5", 195 -- 11 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 2.0 apg, tied career high with 4 assists in last game against MSU.

G 12 Dazon Ingram, Soph., 6'5", 207 -- 10.8 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 3 apg, 1 spg, his free throw rate is second in the nation so almost all of his scoring opportunities come from the free throw line.

F 0 Donta Hall, Jr., 6'9", 232 -- 10.9 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.3 bpg, 73.9 percent from the floor, just as good a shot blocker as Abdul Ado.

F/C 4 Daniel Giddens, Soph., 6'11", 247 -- 4.5 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 1.3 bpg, 13 points against MSU remains a career high.

MSU PROJECTED STARTERS

G 1 Lamar Peters, Soph., 6'0", 185 -- 8.2 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.4 spg, 58.6 percent free throw shooter.

G 0 Nick Weatherspoon, Fr., 6'2", 185 -- 10.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1 spg, 1 turnover per game.

G 11 Quinndary Weatherspoon,, Jr., 6'4", 205 -- 15.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 3.9 apg, 1.4 spg, 51.3 percent from the field.

F 35 Aric Holman, Jr., 6'10", 225 -- 11.4 ppg, 7.0 rpg (2.2 orpg), 1.3 bpg, 61 percent from the field, 2-11 from 3 over his last four games.

F 24 Abdul Ado, R-Fr., 6'11", 250 -- 7.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1 spg, 2.0 bpg, 49.2 percent free throw shooter, SEC play high 4 turnovers in last game.

NOTES: KenPom gives MSU a 59 percent chance of winning this game with a projected final score of 68-66...Alabama leads the SEC in dunks with 110 (4.7 per game)...This is the fourth time Alabama has had to play away from home in back-to-back games and the first three times were a struggle: five-point loss to Minnesota, one-point win over Mercer and a 19-point blowout at Georgia, Quinndary Weatherspoon needs just four points to move up to 26th in the MSU career scoring list, passing Mario Austin.
