Gameday Capsule: Alabama State at MSU

Welcome to the regular season, everyone. You can expect these posts for every men's basketball game this year. The grind is real.

BROADCAST INFO: SEC Network+ and the MSU Radio Network with Voice of the Bulldogs Neil Price

LAST YEAR: Alabama State went 6-12 in the SWAC and 8-23 overall last year, with one of those non-conference wins coming over a D1 team, Cal State Fullerton. Last year's Hornets did not played a SEC team but they did meet up with TCU for a 98-62 loss.

MSU PROJECTED STARTERS (Note: Ben Howland have MSU SID Gregg Ellis a hard time about this projected starting lineup, but didn't go so far as to say it's false.)

NOTES/NUMBERS: The trends suggest a MSU win: the Bulldogs are 25-7 in their last 32 season openers, 82-23 all-time and 26-4 against the current members of the SWAC...Among those projected starters for Alabama State, Gee led them all in scoring with 8.3...Alabama State has a guard Rodney Simeon that was a Second-Team Preseason selection but isn't listed in the projected starting lineup, which I find interesting...An interesting scheduling development is on the horizon for MSU: the Dawgs get eight days off before playing three times in five days.
