STARKVILLE -- Mississippi State football freshman defensive back John Michael Hankerson was arrested again, a university official confirmed Wednesday.
MSU chief communications officer Sid Salter said Hankerson was arrested for false pretenses Tuesday. Hankerson was arrested last Wednesday for simple assault and trespassing. Salter said the first arrest stemmed from an alleged incident with another student.
Salter said thew newest arrest is not connected to the arrest from last week.
"When a student is proven to have violated our student code of conduct, he is highly likely to face disciplinary action," Salter said.
MSU football coach Dan Mullen suspended Hankerson from all team activities after last week's arrest and said he was gathering more information on the incident.
Hankerson, a defensive back, has not played this season and is being redshirted. The South Bend, Indiana, native had 27 catches for 527 yards and eight touchdowns and 77 tackles (2.0 for loss) and two interceptions as a senior in 2015 at Washington High School.
