The Mississippi School of the Arts will host an open house for prospective students and their families on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the school campus at 355 W. Monticello St. in Brookhaven. Activities will include: Guided campus tours, performances, readings and exhibits from current students. It will also provide students and parents the opportunity to meet faculty, staff and students.
MSA is a state wide, public residential school. Students apply their 10th grade year to attend the 11th and 12th grades. Students receive high school academic classes required for graduation and a challenging arts education in selected disciplines of study, including: dance, literary arts, theatre, visual art, and vocal music. The 2009 graduating class received more than $2.6 million in scholarship offers for college. Applications are due Feb. 1, 2011.
