Bangs are a surefire way to accessorize the season. Snip, snip, snipping is so last year and trims are passé. Wave goodbye to fringe, bid farewell to the growing-out phase and toss the headbands, because there”s a new bang in town. If I may be blunt, very much like the bangs themselves, every face shape looks marvelous with a variation on this smoking hot trend for spring.
We first saw these brow-flirting bangs sauntering down the runways paired with mad prints, high-heeled clogs and soft pastels, but we didn”t sit up and pay attention until Hollywood began yelling, “Cut!” last month. Christina Ricci, Penelope Cruz, Jennifer Garner, Tyra Banks and Anne Hathaway, loaded with verve and armed with style, all just blow us away with a bang.
If you have a long or oval face, you can pull off the new bang chopped short, either touching the brows or sitting just below for a more playful vibe. Not to be confused with your grandmother”s bang which was rolled under, disrupted with a slight part or swept to one side, the new bang is full on sexy. It”s in your face, fresh and strong.
Oval faces can go a bit more blunt and straight, while other shapes such as round, square or heart-shaped faces might want to taper the sides more for a more flattering approach. Ask your stylist to talk to you about your facial shape and school you on different ways to style your tresses to get the best bang for your buck. Pun intended.
The next thing to consider when slicing into the newer, “all eyes on me” bang is the color palette for spring. Eyes shimmer with brand new shadows in glistening pastels. One of my favorites is Golden Sands painted onto the upper eyelids from lash to crease then underneath the lower lashes for bang-worthy peepers. Marvelous, indeed. Next, sweep some coral hues onto the apples of the cheeks and find a coral lip gloss that sets your heart ablaze this spring.
Now, with your favorite pair of high-heeled clogs, bold print top, and armed with the season”s hottest bang, you are your own inspiration!
