With temperatures dropping and holidays ahead, the Mississippi State University Extension Service Quick Bites programs turn the focus to florals and fruit.
Quick Bites are informative sessions held via interactive video conferencing at county Extension offices on Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. They are free to the public and cover a wide variety of topics. Advice from specialists and experts in the state prepare the hour-long programs on everything from gardening and insect management to health and cooking. November Quick Bites include:
cold temperatures are not the only factor for determining whether injury occurs to a fruiting plant. Genetics, management, disease and site location all play significant roles. This presentation will discuss these factors and how to best avoid choices that can lead to negative outcomes related to winter injury in fruit crops.
Interested individuals must contact their county office in order to participate in any interactive video program. In Lowndes County, call 662-328-2111; in Oktibbeha, 662-323-5916; in Clay, 662-494-5371. Sessions will also be held in Bost 409 for those on the MSU campus.
