On Friday, Oct. 13, Mississippi University for Women will host its annual Oktoberfest festival. Festivities will take place from 5-8 p.m. on Shattuck Lawn.
Oktoberfest is one of the largest events planned by Student Life, according to Jessica Harpole, director of Student Life. Approximately 75 student organizations set up tables that include food, crafts, games and other entertainment.
The W has celebrated Oktoberfest for several years. The family-oriented event is an opportunity for student organizations to fundraise and involve the community.
Children, ages newborn to 12, are eligible for the costume contest. Registration is from 5-5:45 p.m. The rain location for Oktoberfest is Pohl Gym.
The W’s Leadership Program will also host a haunted house fundraiser Thursday, Oct. 26 through Saturday, Oct. 28. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The haunted house will be open from 8-11 p.m. in Cochran Hall. Admission is $4 per person.
