The Starkville Area Arts Council is calling all artists to participate in the 2011 Cotton District Arts Festival Poster Competition. Artists of all ages are invited to submit their original work to be the face of the 2011 Cotton District Arts Festival.
The SAAC looks at this as a chance to launch this annual competition to find the best and brightest of the area”s local artists. The winner will have their art work displayed in all marketing materials for the festival, as well as set the tone for the festival.
All submissions should be based on the artist”s interpretation of the festival. Some of the elements to consider in design are the fun family atmosphere, the events and types of art represented at the festival.
The Cotton District Arts Festival is held on the third Saturday in April in Starkville”s historic Cotton District. It celebrates five areas of the arts: literary, theater, dance, music and artists. Additionally, the festival is home to the Taste of Starkville, a food competition with local food vendors, plus a wide variety of live music on multiple stages.
All artists must submit their original work to the SAAC office by April 23, 2010. For a complete list of contest guidelines, as well as an official entry form, visit the SAAC office at 100 S. Lafayette St. in Starkville, or download the application at www.starkvillearts.org.
