Bluegrass and Baroque — The Summer Symphony Chorus directed by Peter Infanger presents this free program at Starkville’s First United Methodist Church Connection Building at 7:30 p.m. (refreshments served at 7 p.m.). Dr. Jackie Edwards-Henry performs on harpsichord. The Gospel Nightcrawlers, led by Doug Browning, present the bluegrass portion. Donations to the Starkville-MSU Symphony Association are welcomed.

Art Rocks — The Columbus Arts Council kicks off its 2015-16 season theme “Art Rocks” with an exhibit by Sami Austin, Montero Baker, Conner Burns and Ross Whitwam, and rock art activity, from 5:30-7 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Rosenzweig Arts Center. On Aug. 7, Flathead Ford performs at 8:30 p.m. on the gallery floor; food by Zachary’s ($6/$8). On Aug. 8, rock art activities 10 a.m.-noon. Possum Town Triathlon — The fourth annual Possum Town Triathlon at Columbus Lake on Lock and Dam Road begins at 7 a.m. and includes a 600-yard swim, 17-mile bike ride and 5K run. Forks & Corks & Taps — Area chefs compete for prizes and bragging rights at this Starkville Area Arts Council fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. in the E.E.
