St. Paul’s May luncheon — St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 318 College St., Columbus, hosts the annual community-wide May Luncheon and Bake Sale. $10 per plate. Eighth of May Celebration — Students from the Mississippi School for Math and Science portray the lives of prominent African-American leaders who lived in the area during the late 19th and 20th centuries at 6 p.m. at Sandfield Cemetery, 100-198 S. 25th St., Columbus. Hitching Lot Grand Opening — Columbus’s Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market at Second Avenue and Second Street North holds a season grand opening from 7-10 a.m. with produce and crafts vendors, kids activities and music by the Suzuki Strings. An Evening with the Columbus Girlchoir — This Girlchoir fundraiser includes tours of the homes of John and Eulalie Davis, and Dr. Jim Borsig, with hors d’oeurvres and desserts from 5-7 p.m., plus a Girlchoir concert at MUW’s Rent Auditorium at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 at the Convention and Visitors Bureau office, Pizazz and from Girlchoir members and board members.
