Music from around the world will be featured at the Mississippi University for Women Choral Concert set for Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Poindexter Hall, Connie Sills Kossen Auditorium.
Music to be performed will be from various cultures and countries, including the United States, Zambia, Ireland, the Caribbean, Brazil (Amazon tribe), Romania and Russia.
The concert will be performed by the University Chorus, Women’s Chorale and the Chamber Singers.
“We will also be debuting a piece by one of our own students, Jade Burrell. The piece is entitled ‘A Dream Within a Dream’ and features the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe,” said Dr. Phillip Stockton, director of choral activities and music education at The W. Burrell is a senior music therapy major from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The performance is free and open to the public.
