The Cotton District Arts Festival Songwriter Competition announces it has extended the deadline for entries until Saturday, March 28. In addition, the contest entry fee is being waived.
“We’re doing things a little differently this year,” said contest chair Andrew Rendon. “The competition will include a showcase of participating musicians on April 2 at Dave’s Dark Horse Tavern.” The top three showcase contestants chosen by a selection committee will get the opportunity to perform their original song at the festival on April 18.
The contest is open to amateur and professional singer/songwriters. Entries may be submitted via flash drive or CD/DVD. Songs can also be emailed to [email protected] or uploaded to an accessible, non-password, non-subscribed music playing website (such as youtube.com) for review by the committee.
Entry forms and rules are available at cdafestival.com or starkvillearts.org. Completed entry forms should be mailed to SAAC/CDAF, 101 S. Lafayette St., Suite 18, Starkville, MS 39759.
The first place winner of the contest will receive a $300 cash prize. Second place receives a $150 prize, and the third place winner receives $100.
For more information, visit cdafestival.com or contact Rendon at the email address above, or at 662-418-7883.
Held each April in Starkville’s Cotton District, the festival features the Taste of Starkville restaurant competition, vendors, live music, a juried art competition, 5K and more.
