The Columbus-Lowndes Public Library announces that children’s book author Candy Grant of Columbus recently donated two first edition signed copies of her books “Closet Creep: A Not So Scary Monster Story,” “The Pigs Did It!” and “Will You Bee My Honey?” to the Local History Department at the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library.
Grant also donated her composition book that includes handwritten notes she made while creating each book, literary magazines that include Grant’s poems and short stories, and newspaper articles and other publicity that highlight her work. All the materials will be included in a collection documenting her literary career.
One copy of each of her first edition books, however, will be included in a special section of non-circulating books known as the Lowndes County Authors book collection. This section includes non-fiction or fiction works written by authors working or residing in Lowndes County. Others currently represented include writers such as Michael Farris Smith, Deborah Johnson, James M. DelPrince, Kendall Dunkelberg and Luke Wallin.
Grant said, “I am both humbled and honored to be a part of the Local History Department of the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library. The donation of my children’s books and original handwritten manuscripts has helped me understand the importance of the preservation of local history.”
Local authors interested in donating a copy of their book or starting a collection documenting their career should contact Mona Vance-Ali at 662-329-5304.
