The Bernard Romans Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Regent Alice Lancaster announce the following recipients of the 2014 NSDAR Good Citizen Award: Alex Lee Spears, Caledonia High School; Shersentra Tanae Williams, Columbus High School; and India Yarborough, Mississippi School for Math and Science.
The Good Citizen Award honors one senior at each high school who demonstrates the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism to an outstanding degree.
Students’ essays answered the question, “What does our past tell us about our future?” All three essays reflected knowledge of U. S. history and a thoughtfulness regarding the future of the nation. The essay of India Yarborough, Mississippi School for Math and Science, was chosen by independent judges to advances to the state level in the Scholarship Competition part of the award. India is the daughter of Chuck and Leigh Yarborough of Columbus.
