Longer days and spurts of warm weather signal the impending arrival of spring. With the new season will come area festivals filled with live music, good food and unique visual arts.
The Starkville Area Arts Council invites artisans to submit artwork for possible inclusion in the Juried Art Exhibition of the 2009 Cotton District Arts Festival April 18 in Starkville. Applications for submissions may be downloaded at www.starkvillearts.org.
Guest artist P. Sanders McNeal will judge the juried exhibit this year. Now residing in Jackson, McNeal, an alumna of Mississippi University for Women, is a nationally recognized artist, scenic designer and muralist.
The Cotton District Arts Festival has been named one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast for 2009 by the Southeast Tourism Society, as well as one of the Top 100 Events in North America by the American Bus Association.
