Ballet Magnificat!, a ballet company based in Jackson, is partnering with the City of Jackson and The Salvation Army to create a destination holiday experience.
Tickets are available beginning Nov. 1 for Dec. 20-21 afternoon performances at Thalia Mara Hall of “Most Incredible Christmas.” The new Broadway-style production tells of a town’s contest to find the most extraordinary thing about the Christmas season. Contestants entertain the audience with traditions and songs that capture the spectacle of the season, reflections on the first Christmas and an uplifting celebration of Emmanuel — God with us.
Ballet Magnificat!’s Alpha and Omega companies, Trainee Companies, and almost 100 School of the Arts students perform to heartwarming Christmas tunes from around the world, including “Winter Wonderland,” “We Three Kings” and “Joy to the World.”
“The tone is being set using the nostalgic ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ as a theme throughout the city,” remarked Brenda Holden, Ballet Magnificat! operations manager.
“Our partnership includes a Saturday evening performance exclusively for the many families, clients and angel tree children served by The Salvation Army,” Holden said. ” … We have incorporated a piece of The Salvation Army’s red kettle history into the ballet.”
Free performances for the public are at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 20-21. For ticket information, go to balletmagnificat.com or call 601-977-1001 after Oct. 31. Thalia Mara Hall is located at 255 E. Pascagoula St. in Jackson.
