Time is running short to register for Mississippi University for Women’s Life Enrichment Program second fall term. These non-credit classes are offered Monday, Oct. 13 through Tuesday, Nov. 21.
“These courses are taught by volunteers who are experts in their field and have a passion for teaching others,” said Janie Shields coordinator of the Life Enrichment Program.
Classes offered this term include Shakespeare, Our Contemporary, taught by Jo Shumake, iPhone and iPad Essentials with Melinda Lowe, Retirement Readiness conducted by Rhonda Ferguson and Scott Ferguson, and French for Travelers with Elizabeth Simpson.
There is also Forensic Science Applications, Microsoft Excel, Stretch, Breathe and Relax, ABCs of Investing, Embroidery 101 and Structural Requirements for a Business Venture. Also on the roster are Splash Time, Intermediate Crochet, Bridge for Beginners, Dulcimer 101, Medicare 101, Getting Comfortable with Your Sewing Machine, One Stroke Brush Art and Intro to Personal Computers.
The Life Enrichment Program offers non-credit courses for adults (age 18 and over) who share a love of learning and/or teaching.
There is a $35 registration fee which will allow a student to enroll in up to five classes. A description of courses is available at muw.edu/lep.
The Life Enrichment Program started in fall 2009 with six courses and 24 participants. Last fall there were 39 courses with 263 participants.
