Mina Smith’s five-act play, “No More Strength,” comes to Mississippi University for Women’s Rent Auditorium Saturday, March 15. Show time is 6 p.m.
Smith, of Atlanta, is a wife, mother, author, playwright, director and business owner. She studied English, creative writing and screenwriting and gained experience in theater and producing.
She offered a synopsis of the play. The concept is, “If trials come to make me strong, please God, I don’t need No More Strength.”
Raised by his praying Grandmother Edna and his Uncle James, Hayden Baptiste walks the audience through his journey from a teenager through early adulthood.
At the age of 6, Hayden was taken from the custody of his drug-addicted mother, Justine, and was separated from his sisters. From there, life takes him on a rollercoaster of events. Throughout his journey, Hayden strives to be the best he can be. One day, however, he finds himself at a point where he’s had all the trials and tribulations he can stand. It will take his grandmother and her pastor to pray his strength back.
“You will laugh; you might even cry, but one thing for sure, there is a message for you in this powerful, full-length feature production,” said Smith
OutLoud Productions describes “No More Strength” as quality entertainment, a production filled with substance. Smith reminds that trials do indeed come to make people stronger and that when tested, there is only one true answer.
