The Mississippi State University Extension Service will host a meeting Tuesday, Feb. 25 for anyone interested in becoming a member of the Mississippi Homemakers Volunteers Inc. (MHV). The 10:30 a.m.-to-noon event takes place at Townsend Community Center, 826 15th St. S., Columbus.
Registration is required; contact the Lowndes County Extension Service at 662-328-2111.
The mission of the MHV organization is to strengthen families through education and community involvement. MHV clubs usually have 10 to 20 members who participate in leader training classes, take part in public policy education and serve as community volunteer leaders. Members may participate in county, area and state programs.
Clubs may be traditional young family (under 35) couples, special interest, lunch and learn, senior citizens, newly retired, and career. Mail box membership is offered for those who want to receive training and educational materials but don’t have time to join a traditional club.
To find out more about MHV clubs, contact your local county Extension office.
