Exhibit opening — A free reception from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Rosenzweig Arts Center opens the exhibit “Birmingham: The Movement that Changed the World,” an exclusive collection of records, artifacts and photos marking the 50th anniversary of the Birmingham civil rights movement. It is presented by the City of Birmingham, Dream 365, the Columbus Arts Council and the Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau. UNCF banquet — The Golden Triangle UNCF Committee hosts its annual banquet in support of the United Negro College Fund at 6:30 p.m. in the Mississippi University for Women Nancy Hogarth Dining Center. Keynote speaker is the Honorable Leslie King of the Mississippi Supreme Court. Entertainment is by area musicians and the Rust College A’Capella Choir. Tickets are $25. “Kingdom of Earth” — The public is invited to donor performances of the Tennessee Williams Tribute play “Kingdom of Earth” at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday at Mississippi University for Women’s Rent Auditorium as the cast and crew rehearse to compete in the Mississippi Theatre Association Festival in Vicksburg this month. M.J. Etua directs; cast includes Cherri Golden, Kris Lee and David Trotter. Suggested donation at the door is $10 minimum. Proceeds help send the production to competition.
