I have been in the business of beauty for 20 years, whether in the hustle and bustle of one of my salons or armed with an arsenal of brushes at the makeup counters, so this fellow knows some tricks you are sure to find a treat this fall.
Younger eyes are the quintessential must-have on every lady’s wish list, and here’s some sage advice that does not require a magic wand or a cosmetic surgeon. Open your eyes by painting foundation right across the eyelids for a clean, brighter canvas sure to lighten up any dark shadows. Select a neutral shade of eye shadow in a flesh color with a bit of shimmer, not glitter, but shimmer. Dab a golden shimmer shadow on the outer edges and in the corners of the eyes for an instant eye-opener — a trick Lancôme achieved recently with those gorgeous peepers of Julia Roberts.
The objective here is to enhance the skin without trendy colors, which almost always age the eyes. Color has a place on the eyes for sure, but for a truly radiant, youthful eye, skip it.
Stroke a brown liquid eyeliner along the top lash line keeping it near the lashes, because nothing gives an eye-opening look better than this will. Brush on several coats of a brown or brown/black mascara to top lashes only, and curl the lashes with an eyelash curler for a lift that will erase the years. Keep the lashes clean and natural by removing any clumps for a younger vibe.
Of course, there is a time and place for most everything, but we are going for a more natural look. With the exception of mascara, then, a simple rule of thumb is to avoid black near the eyes because it sometimes looks harsh, old and dated. Only use liquid concealer on the outer and inner eye areas and always in a shade twice as light as the foundation. Remember to dab, never rub, and avoid caking it on too thickly as this ages the eyes faster than anything.
Always remove your eye makeup with a special cleanser, moisturize daily around the delicate eye area to avoid future fine lines and wrinkles, and by all means, use a sunscreen. Fill in the eyebrows with a soft pencil, and exaggerate the natural arch remembering not to over-pluck. Last but not least, use a white pencil to line the inner rims of your eyes in the corners for a wide-open childlike gaze. I love it!
So, there you have it, brighter, younger eyes every time, and no other single feature can roll back the years like beautiful eyes!
